Etihad
Etisalat and STC reach accord
Riyadh, January 11, 2005 – An agreement was
concluded on Monday evening the 29 of Zulqi'da 1425 Hejri corresponding to
January 10, 2005 between the Saudi Telecommunications Company (STC) and Etihad
Etisalat. The agreement between the two companies reflected upon the healthy and
long term ties that Etihad Etisalat is looking forward to develop in the years
to come. According to the agreement The Saudi Telecommunications Company will
provide for a period of three years the following services to Etihad Etisalat:
One of the major provisions of infrastructure made available
by the Saudi Telecommunications Company will be its Transmission links that will
allow inter-linking between Etihad Etisalat locations.
Another important provision made available to Etihad Etisalat
by the Saudi Telecommunications Company will be the unhindered flow of traffic
for both their customers through the linking of Etihad Etisalat’s and the Saudi
Telecommunications Company’s switchboxes.
Also made available to Etihad Etisalat and its subscribers
will be the fact that the Saudi Telecommunications Company will offer to the
Etihad Etisalat subscribers national roaming capabilities which will allow the
subscribers network access in areas that at present are not covered by Etihad
Etisalat’s network and this will be made available till Etihad Etisalat’s
network is up and running across the Kingdom’s various cities.
In order to speed up Etihad Etisalat’s ground stations the
Saudi Telecommunications Company has also agreed upon providing its mobile
telephone towers.
Mr. Khalid Al Kaf Etihad Etisalat’s Managing Director said
that this agreement will allow for the rapid linking up of the two companies
networks, thus speeding up our ability to offer Etihad Etisalat’s services in
the Kingdom. On the other hand Eng. Khalid Bin Abdullah Al Mulhem President of
STC said that STC welcomes Etihad Etisalat as one of its main customers and
users of its network, which will have a positive impact on the utilization of
its network that is spread across the Kingdom.
